One of the most pivotal parts of any audio set up, speakers are the devices that project sound, voices and music across a wider area. There are in general two main types of speaker, which are passive and active speakers.

An active speaker is powered, and therefore can be used without an external amplifier, although that means it needs an extra power cable to be used in the system.

A passive speaker system is lighter and only requires a single cable to go through it, at the cost of needing external amplification in order to project sound.
